ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Early Intervention (EI) Program provides services to children with disabilities from birth up to three years of age throughout Jackson County.
The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program provides services to children with disabilities from ages three to kindergarten age throughout Jackson County.
The EI/ECSE Programs are administered through Douglas County Education Services District (ESD). The ESD employs teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and integration specialists to provide a full range of services to these children. ESD staff work closely with the following agencies in providing these services:

Since every child's needs are highly individual, the program developed for each child could contain one or more of the following services:
Family/Caregiver Consultation - through consultation our specialist will work directly with family and caregivers to assist them in learning skills that will allow them to help their child progress developmentally. This services may be provided in the child's home and/or other location such as day care or Early Head Start, based on the individual family preference.
Community consultation -some children may participate in a community preschool or daycare program to assist them in developing their skills. A specialist will assist the family in identifying an appropriate program for their child and work with the the staff of the selected program in developing and implementing a program for the child.
Therapy Services - a child who has significant delay in the development of his/her gross motor skills may receive individual therapy from a physical therapist. A child who has a significant delay in the development of his/her fine motor or feeding skills may receive individual therapy from an occupational therapist. A child who has a significant delay in the devleopment of his/her speech and/or language skills may receive individual or group therapy from a speech and language pathologist.
Classroom Services - For children three to five years of age, the program offers a structured preschool class for children with and without special needs in Medford and White City.
